GAINESVILLE, Texas (KXII) -- An accountant discovered discrepancies in the UIL Region II music fund that indicate up to $50,000 may be missing.

Region II serves school music programs in Cooke, Denton and Montague counties.

Gainesville Police are investigating the possibility that from 2012 -2015, up to $50,000 may have been embezzled from the account. An accountant discovered the discrepancies during an audit of the account.

"We as a committee have the funds we need to move forward, so it shouldn't hinder the next band competition that we have lined out in the future," Committee member Jeffrey Brasher said.
