A Dallas police statement says officers shortly before 2:30 a.m. Monday responded to reports of a shooting along Interstate 30. Police discovered the postal truck driver was dead inside the government vehicle in a case being investigated as a homicide.
Police say no one has been arrested in connection with the shooting near downtown Dallas. The U.S. Postal Service operates a large complex nearby.
Police are trying to determine a motive for the slaying. The victim's name wasn't immediately released.
Messages left for representatives of the postal service were not immediately returned on Monday, a federal holiday - Presidents Day.
