Texoma sees a continued dry pattern with above normal temperatures into early next week, in fact 90 + for all areas on Monday, just a few degrees short of records, followed by a pleasant, but brief, cool-down thanks to a frontal passage. Expect seasonably cool fall numbers Tuesday and Wednesday.
However, an upper high – super strong for mid-October – shows up later next week; this points to another round of rather hot conditions beginning Thursday or Friday. Rain prospects continue quite low in general; what’s worse, the unseasonably warm weather is making for higher evaporation rates than typical for October, depleting any rainfall that we do receive more quickly.
Needless to say, fire danger is quite high for this time of year and outdoor burning should not be attempted on days with any kind of a significant breeze.
