This week's A+ Athlete is Taylor Wilkinson from Tishomingo High School.
Taylor does it all at Tish. She's the captain for the basketball team and also participates in softball, track and cheerleading. But it's the lessons she's learned from those sports that mean so much to her.
"It's taught me leadership skills," said Wilkinson. "It's taught me how to talk to other people and relay messages in different ways. Just very good communication, learning how to work as a team."
"She just a great kid," said head girls' basketball coach Boyd Houser. "She's a wonderful student. She works hard at everything she does."
That hard-working mentality transfers over to the classroom as well.
Taylor maintains a 4.0 GPA, president of the student council and concurrently enrolled at Murray State College.
"Grades have always been important every since I was little," said Wilkinson. "I've never wanted to make anything less than an A. My sister, she excelled really well at grades, and I've always tried to compete with her and stay up with her."
"She has three major things working for her: 1) she's highly competitive, 2) her desire to do things well and 3) and she has the most outstanding work ethic that a student could have," said algebra teacher Ronnie Walker.
Taylor's work ethic shines also in her involvement with the community.
Inspired by her grandfather, Taylor volunteers her time with a local home health service.
"I go to the nursing homes with them, and that's always been close after he passed away to be involved in that, talk to people and learn different aspects of everybody's life."
After graduation, Taylor plans to attend college to become a physical therapist and continue her passion of helping others. And that's why Taylor Wilkinson is this week's A+ Athlete.
