This week's A+ Athlete is Alissa French of Durant high school. Alissa is ranked number 1 in her class, she has a 4.0 G.P.A. and she is a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society.
"Sometimes you don't get everything you want." said Alissa French. "Whatever I set my mind to, I'm going to go for it. I just want to be the best, I just want to be the best I can be, all the time."
"Alissa is great, she's the epitome of a student athlete," said Durant match teacher Brent Ellis. "She's a student first, she always does all of her work. She's one of the students you had more of."
Alissa is just as dominant on the playing field, she is state champion power lifter, a four time state qualifier in fast pitch softball, and was 1st team all-district in soccer.
"Just being able to out lift everyone, a just knowing that I have the strength inside me," said French. "The harder you work and the more persistent you are, the more successful you're going to be. Whether it be athletic or academically."
"She's always the first one to to do something over the top, or something extra to get us going, energy wise," said Durant softball coach Cody Little. "It's a lot of fun as a coach to be able to go out and have those kids that you don't have to push, and prod. Sometimes you almost have to reel her in because she's going to go hard, you're always going to get 100 percent."
Between keeping a perfect GPA and playing three sports, Alissa still finds time to volunteer around Durant.
