This week's A+ Athlete is Blake Williams of Collinsville High School. Blake is All-district tight end and defensive end, an Area qualifier in football. and he runs in the 4x100, the 4x200, and the 4x400 relays in track.
"I firmly believe that everything in life you do is connected to your attitude and effort," said Blake Williams. "If you have a good attitude and a great effort at everything, you will excel, no matter what situation it is."
"We're really going to miss him next year, I wish I had him for another year," said Collinsville head football coach Dale West. "More than his athletic ability, it's his character, and his hard work. His work ethic is phenomenal."
Blake also sprints past the competition in the classroom. He is an honor roll student, he is enrolled in dual credit classes, and he is ranked towards the top of his class.
"You're going to have bad grades," said Williams. "Just fight through it, keep working. A 'C' isn't bad, but you have to go for gold. Just 100% every time, attitude and effort, that's on you."
"If I could have a classroom full of twenty Blake's, my job would be easy," said Collinsville English teacher Kacy Patterson. "I think he understands that it starts now, it doesn't start later, and the work he puts in now, is going to benefit him in the future."
After graduation, Blake will continue his football career at Southeastern.
