A+ Athlete: Claire Olmstead, Texoma Christian

This week's A+ Athlete is Claire Olmstead from Texoma Christian.

Claire embodies success at TCS. She's received 1st Team All-District honors in volleyball, basketball and softball. Claire has also ran track, a state semifinalist in tennis, recognized as a member of the TAPPS all-state basketball team and state champion on the hardwood.

"I like to do all the sports because even though I may be best in one, my teachers and my friends are going to work with me to be the best in everything that I do," said Olmstead. The best that I can be."

"Claire is a great young lady on the court," said Mark Ellison, head girls basketball coach. "She's a leader. Everybody at the school looks up to her. They want to follow in her footsteps, and do the things that she's done for Texoma Christian School."

And Claire has accomplished a lot at Texoma Christian. She's the National Honor Society President, a representative of the Student Council, a two-time TAPPS Academic All-State member. All while maintaining a 4.2 GPA, enrolled in AP and duel credit courses, working a part-time job, and embarking in community service and mission trips.

"Coach Ellison always said if you can't do your academics, you can't play athletics," said Olmstead. "You just can't. You have to set your prioritize straight, and academics always come first. Always."

"I'm proud to have taught her because when you teach a kid that strives every day to do their best, you can't ask for more as a teacher," said math teacher Diane Jones.

After graduation, Claire will attend college to major in finance and minor in marketing. And that's why Claire Olmstead is this week's A+ Athlete.
