This week's A+ Athlete is Jacey Henry from Turner High School.
Jacey leads by example. She's tied at the top of the senior class with a 4.0 GPA, currently the class president, involved in BETA club, the Oklahoma High School Honor Society and FFA, all while taking concurrent college courses.
"My parents have always told me that academics are first," said Henry. "If I don't have my grades then I don't get to play sports. And I really like to have A's. If I get a B, I've never had a B so I would probably stress out ."
"Jacey was every teacher's dream of a perfect student," said English teacher Sheila Parker. "She was always well-prepared, responsible, asks question when she needed to. Her work ethic is 110% in everything she does."
Jacey goes above and beyond in sports as well. The Oklahoma Wendy's High School Heisman and all-state pitcher led the Lady Falcons fast-pitch softball team to the state final two years in a row. Jacey also helped the basketball team make a run to the state tournament twice.
"Just trying to be the best I can at anything," said Henry. "Growing up, I watched my cousin. She was active just like this in everything, and I wanted to be a lot like her."
"She's a great leader," said head softball coach Shane Hill. "I got three little girls of my own, and I like for them to look up to her. As a parent you say, 'well, would you want your girls to be like her? You dang right.'"
After graduation, Jacey will continue her education and softball career at East Central University. And that's why Jacey Henry is this week's A+ Athlete.
