This week's A+ Athlete is Jaydan Hunt from Denison High School.
Jaydan does it all for the Lady Yellow Jackets. She's a regional qualifier in track, a state qualifier in powerlifting, an academic all-district softball player and has participated in basketball and volleyball.
But that's not all, the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation named Jaydan the State Female Athlete of the Year as a freshman.
"Even though I compete against many girls, to be able to do what I do, my biggest competitor is myself," said Hunt. "Being able to stay out of my head and just focus on what I need to do is how I'm going to be able to be great."
"I believe her drive and her work ethic is second-to-none," said head powerlifting coach Gary Bigelow. "She's a perfectionist. So everything needs to be done exactly right or she's not satisfied."
Jaydan works just as hard in the classroom ranking in the top ten percent of the senior class with a 4.0 GPA. She's part of the National Honor Society, a Socrates Scholar and taking duel credit courses. In her limited spare time, Jaydan volunteers to help with the Food Pantry in town, and she's the Homecoming Queen.
"They're helping me to be able to push through of the struggles of not being able to finish the right way I want to but getting to that finish line," said Hunt. "There's always a struggle and you're going to have to get through it."
"With Jaydan, one thing you'll see is she is constantly trying to better what she is doing, inside the classroom and out," said David Bullard AP social studies teacher. "You can see it in her, and it's in her personality.
After graduation, Jaydan plans to continue her athletic career in softball and track at the next level, while earning her degree and certification as an athletic trainer. And that's why Jaydan Hunt is this week's A+ Athlete.
