This week's A+ Athlete is Lawrence Goade from Anna High School.
Lawrence ranks near the top of the senior class with a 3.95 GPA and scored an 1110 on his SAT. He was also named Academic All-District for the past two years.
"Academics is going to get you a lot further than sports will, said Goade. "You could always get hurt. You could always not make it to the next level, but there's always a next level in academics. There's always something new to learn."
"He's quiet but determined," said AP Calculus teacher Karen Bump. "He sets his goals and he reaches them, and then, he makes another set of goals and reaches those."
Lawrence's determination is seen on the playing field as well. A three-sport athlete, he's a team captain for the Coyote football team, receiving honorable mention all-district honors on the gridiron and baseball diamond, and he plays basketball.
Despite those successes, it's the adversity Lawrence appreciates the most.
"We've had a lot of rough years in sports here," said Goad. "Just to push through it. My senior year has come and we've been successful so far. Just fighting through that adversity is something that I intent will help me for the rest of my life."
"He's very mature," said head football coach Jason Heath. "Being able to balance athletics, playing three different sports, along with carrying a full-load of classwork and maintaining a high GPA, it says a lot about a kid."
And that's why Lawrence Goade is this week's A+ Athlete.
