Denison not satisfied with 4th place projection

The Denison Yellow Jackets were picked as a playoff team according to Texas Football Magazine, but they have loftier goals.

The Jackets were placed in one of the largest districts in the state with 9 teams. The state-wide magazine predicted that Denison would finish 4th in 7-5A Division II.

The Jackets were picked to finish behind Frisco Reedy, Lake Dallas and Lovejoy. They were picked ahead of Princeton, Braswell, Frisco, Frisco Lebanon Trail and Frisco Memorial.

"We must not buy enough magazines to be ranked higher," head coach Chad Rogers said. "The guys that are picking stuff are not the guys in the trenches, they are not the guys that are showing up to work out. Would I pick us there? No. I wouldn't pick us 4th, Of course I would pick us 1st, but that just me. I'm not trying to give anyone any bulletin board material, but I believe in our kids and I believe in our coaches."

Denison is coming off an 8-2 season and a playoff berth. They went 5-1 in district a year ago.
