ADA - The East Central University football team fell 45-14 to Ouachita Baptist in Great American Conference action at Norris Field at Koi Ishto Stadium.
The Tigers (1-3, 1-3 GAC) earned more offensive yards than Ouachita (3-1, 3-1 GAC), recording 419 to 296. However, the Ouachita defense accounted for two of its touchdowns, with interception returns.
ECU junior Noah Holle returned to the field and went 23-of-45 for 210 yards and a touchdown. Fellow junior RayJohn Austin-Ramsey added a 4-of-6 mark for 63 yards and a touchdown pass.
Junior Trinity Benson led the receiving group, with 115 yards on eight receptions and a touchdown. Junior Tre Harvey earned the final points for the Tigers, catching three passes for 25 yards.
Redshirt senior Vernon Johnson led the defense with seven total tackles (2-5), including a sack for three yards.
Ouachita started the scoring in the first quarter, garnering two touchdowns for a 14-0 advantage. They then added a TD and a 37-yard field goal in the second quarter (24-0) before the Tigers could get on the scoreboard.
Harvey earned his TD on a 13-yard pass from Holle that capped off a 13-play; 89-yard drive. The extra point failed and ECU went into the locker room trailing 24-6.
Ouachita added 14 more points in the third quarter and then seven in the fourth to push the advantage to 45-7, with just under five minutes to play.
The Tigers didn't give up fighting, rushing down the field on a 10-play; 86-yard drive that resulted in a 24-yard pass between Benson and Austin-Ramsey, with five seconds left. Austin-Ramsey then hit senior Dezmon Jackson for a good two-point conversion for the 45-14 final.
ECU will next battle Southwestern Oklahoma State, Saturday, Sept. 30 in Weatherford, Okla., at 6 p.m.
