East Central Tigers supports and fans got a chance to meet new head coach Al Johnson Tuesday morning in Ada.
Johnson was part of the Wisconsin Badgers coaching staff before taking over at ECU.
He brings a lot of experience to the program, as a former player and coach. Johnson was a standout football offensive lineman at Wisconsin, then became a second round draft pick by the Dallas Cowboys. But now, Johnson is excited for his first head coaching gig.
"It's an exciting time," said Johnson. "We're looking forward to what's in the future. Right now, it's all about getting the team back and getting started. But also working on recruiting and putting together this class."
"I think it's important sometimes to not get caught up in the past and worry about the future," he added. "And that's going to be my goal with this team. They're never going to hear me talk about, 'I didn't recruit them,' or that 'I have a three-year plan.' My plan is today and what we can do to become better. And every day after that, we're going to try and be better."
