Lone Grove headed back to state, looks to build on tradition

The Lone Grove softball team has a proud winning tradition. It continues to grow as the Lady Longhorns have made it back to the fast-pitch state tournament.

The last time the Lady Longhorns went to state was 2014. Some of the members of this year's team were freshman then.

"They get along together well," head coach Jimmy Miller said.
They play hard together, play for each other and the amount of talent they have, it's fun to see it all come together and they get the reward for that."

The Lady Longhorns enter the state tournament at 28-5 on the year. They hope to use their experiences this season to win three more games and bring home the title.

"We've had some tough games and tough battles and those kind of things," Miller said. "It made us stronger through the year. And we're really excited for this upcoming week."

Lone Grove faces Grove in the State Quarterfinals at USA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City on Thursday.
