Pottsboro alum named University of Texas assistant coach

Former Pottsboro Cardinals basketball player Kelby Jones has been named an assistant coach with the University of Texas Longhorns women's team by head coach Karen Aston.

Jones will be be the team's video coordinator. He has spent the past two years UT working as a graduate manager. His new duties will include oversight of video exchange, and breakdown of opponent and individual video scouting. He will also have recruiting duties.

"I'm thrilled to be able to elevate Kelby to our video coordinator position," Texas head coach Karen Aston said. "He has been such a tireless worker as our graduate manager and has earned the opportunity to move forward in his pursuit of a coaching career."

"I'm humbled, blessed and excited to be given the opportunity to continue working for one of the top program's in women's college basketball," Jones said. "I look forward to continuing the pursuit of a Big 12 and national championship trophy. I would like to thank, first and foremost, Coach Aston and the rest of the coaching staff for helping develop me the last two years as a graduate manager here at The University of Texas."
