The Sacred Heart Tigers are on the field again. After another 7-4 season, Coach Dale Schilling is delivering one message to his team: Be better than a 7-4 team.
"We're kind of on this 7-4 every year," said head coach Dale Schilling. "We've talked about it since last November. We have to get off the 7-4. We have to cut down on turnovers. We have to have more of a sense of urgency about us."
With 19 returning starters on the team, the Tigers know exactly what happened last year and what they need to do to improve.
"We've gotten much stronger mentality and physically," said quarterback Sam Hesse. "We've become more discipline, and we know the game more right now. We're the best we've ever been."
"Last year, the big problem was turnovers," said wide receiver Julian Hesse. "We turned the ball over, I think, 10 times in our last playoff game. That's just unheard of. I really think we can win district and go much higher than we did last year."
The Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine has Sacred Heart finishing second in their district and making another run at the postseason, which is where Coach Schilling believes his team belongs, if not a little higher.
"I expect us to be one or two," said Schilling. "I think we have a good enough team to win the district this year. Our biggest key is just staying healthy."
