KXII-TV News 12 is seeking a morning news producer for our Sherman newsroom to produce and edit our two hour local morning newscast every weekday.
This is a full-time, behind-the-scenes position working directly under the news director and morning anchors. You'll learn the ropes from an experienced, award-winning news team, and you’ll help put together the market’s top-rated newscast.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
ˑProducing and editing a daily two-hour morning newscast
ˑStrong news writing skills (broadcast and digital)
ˑStrong video editing skills
ˑCoordinating with reporters in the field and on live shots
ˑOperating the teleprompter
ˑPosting new stories online
ˑUpdating station's social media platforms
ˑMonitoring police scanner traffic
ˑOccasionally shoot and cover breaking/spot overnight news
The right candidate will be a strong news writer and video editor, a competent problem-solver, a quick thinker, and a good communicator. Must work well under pressure and on deadline.
Knowledge of electronic news gathering & non-linear editing required. Knowledge of digital news writing and social media preferred.
Some newsroom experience is preferred, but not required. Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred.
