A quarter cent sales tax will go before Marshall County voters in June

MARSHALL COUNTY, OK -- County commissioners approved a proposal from the county's firefighters for the possible tax increase, which would go towards equipment.
Marshall county fire and safety chairman, James Kuykendall says out of the eleven departments in the county, ten of them are fully volunteer.
He says if the tax is approved, tourists would help as well.
"When they come into town any shopping they do anything that they buy they will help fund the local fire departments and kind of help with some of the burden of holiday weekends because the call volume does go up as we get more people at the lake."
Kuykendall says currently their equipment money comes from fundraisers or grants.
