ARDMORE, OK - The Ardmore Police Department will host a Shop with a Cop program for the 22nd year in a row.

This year Shop with a Cop will be held Dec.10-11. One hunded children from the Ardmore area will pair up with officers and get $100 to spend at Walmart.

So far, the department has received over 500 applications from families hoping to participate. APD plans to notify those chosen for Shop with a Cop this week.

Sgt. Phil Shepard says the program helps the police build a stronger relationship with the community. "We wanted to be able to do something special for them and build a relationship with those children," Shepard said. "They are our future."

Proceeds from Tuesday's Ardmore Main Street's Parade of Lights benefits the program.
