SHERMAN, TX -- Women are banding together and learning how to better defend themselves thanks to an all ladies gun club in Grayson County.

"A girl and a Gun" club started off with a bang as dozens of women gathered at the Red River Indoor Range in Sherman Monday night.

Organizers say the group started up just a little over a year ago so women could learn how to shoot and sharpen their skills without feeling intimidated. The league was created by women for women, and Sherman marks the groups 11th chapter.

"If we look at the gun as as tool for self defense and then also something fun to go do as a stress reliever we have a really good time doing it," Julianna Crowder, Co-Founder of "A Girl and A Gun", said.

Crowder says the club has taken off and will soon go national.
