Ada firefighter loses home in fire

FITTSTOWN, OK - Flames engulfed a Pontotoc County home last night that belonged to a man who fights fires every day.

Firefighters know all too well the damage that fire can do not only to a home, but to the lives of those affected.

Ada Fire Chief Marion Harris said, "Approximately 6:30 p.m. last night we received a page from central dispatch about a structure fire in the Fittstown area."

Andd this time, it was the home of one of their own, Ada firefighter Jason Hamilton.

Hamilton declined to speak on camera but told us no one was hurt.

"When our units the house was fully involved so it had had some time to build and get to that fully involved state," Chief Harris said.

Crews from Ada and Stonewall were called to help Fittstown put out the flames.

Chief Harris said it was fortunate that the family wasn't home at the time.

The fire marshal is investigating what started the fire.

"I really cant comment on the fires cause until their investigation is complete," Chief Harris said.

The Hamilton's said their home is insured.

His wife says they did lose two pets in the fire.
