Another fire burns over 100 acres in Grayson Co.

SHERMAN, TX - A Sherman firefighter suffered heat related injuries this afternoon as several departments battled a large grass fire in Grayson County.

The fire broke out around 1 p.m. near FM 1417 and Plainview Road. Sherman Fire Division Chief Danny Fuller says it started out as a brush fire, but the flames quickly spread because of the dry conditions.

Eight Grayson County fire departments and 35 firefighters worked for three hours to contain the fire. Fuller says more than 100 acres has been burned, and even though it's contained they're still on scene monitoring hot spots.

"It's under control. We're trying to put out hot spots, and we hope to be mobilizing soon, but you never know with the wind and the weather," Fuller said.

The firefighter who suffered heat exhaustion is expected to be okay.
