MARIETTA, OK - An Ardmore police officer is recovering in a Dallas hospital after an accident early this morning in Love County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 30-year-old Eric Grisham was headed north in a Chevy pickup on U.S. Highway 77 three miles south of Marietta around 3:30 a.m. when he fell asleep at the wheel, ran off the highway, and went airborne before crashing into an embankment.
The former Marietta police officer and Carter County Sheriff's deputy was taken by air ambulance to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. The Ardmore Police Department says Grisham is in stable condition, but has several broken bones.
OHP says Grisham was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.
