ARDMORE, OK -- Dozens of people from across the area gathered at the Carter County Health Department to celebrate Cody's law on Tuesday.
The new law makes it a criminal offense to allow any minor to drink alcohol on your property. A conviction carries a fine of $500 and up to six months in jail.
If the minor is involved in a serious injury or a fatal accident, the jail sentence could be as long as 5 years.
The law was named after Cody Greenhaw who died of a drug overdose while at a friend's house.
