SHERMAN, TX - Austin College produces more Fulbright Scholars than any school in Texas.
Six Austin College students received Fulbright grants for the 2011-2012 school year, to teach English internationally. It's a record number of awards for the college in one year.
The students are chosen based on leadership, commitment, and academic and professional excellence.
Patrick Duffey, Fulbright advisor for Austin College, said one of their keys to success is the number of students who study abroad. "Over 70 percent of our students study abroad before they graduate, our language department here is especially strong and also we offer students the opportunity to have internships internationally."
The Fulbright program is in more than 150 countries throughout the world.
