B.E.S.T committee created to improve Fannin County economy


(FANNIN COUNTY, TEXAS) -- Municipal leaders and business owners met in Bonham Thursday morning for the second Bonham Empowerment Support Team meeting. County officials created B.ES.T to unite government and business to work together to succeed.

John Farris, chairman of the Bonham Chamber of Commerce says " a way to organize the community..the entire community..the entire county.. We want people involved..business people..elected officials.. Bedco..the mayors of each town..anyone we can get involved."

By having a united force of local government leaders and business owners officials say the can create jobs more effectively.

Bill Shipp, Bonham city manager says " but you can't just go shot gunning..you need to be able to go out there and target certain jobs..and if you don't have that common vision..you don't know which jobs to target."

State District judge Lauri Blake works with mental health clinics in conjunction with the judicial system and says that's an example of how cooperation can lead to more grant money," we get a larger portion for our population than Grayson or Cooke County receive because we cooperate."

Officials say that joining forces enables resources to be shared..in this prime part of the country.
