BONHAM,TX---A new development plan could bring businesses to Bonham.

Based upon the success that some other restaurants and retail stores have had in the city, officials are confident that a new development plan will continue that success and further economic growth.

The new site for the development is located off Highway 121 and Nolan Ashmore Way, near Bonham High School.

Officials say the 121 corridor has had great success with places like Wal-mart, and Braums, and that adding new businesses to that area has strong potential.

Part of the 7 acre spot that the city plans to build on is actually where the high schools softball field is, meaning there is a chance of it being moved after being there for decades.

Bonham Economic Development director, Steve Filipowicz, says the development could mean convenience for consumers.

"With the way it connects 82 into Mckinney or into 56, it will help bring people here, get them here very conveniently, get them in, get them out, and get them around town." said Filipowicz.

Right now officials are conducting consumer tests to determine which stores would be most beneficial to the area. Once they have those results they will begin construction. Live in the studio, Ethan Hutchins, News 12.
