Sunday Afternoon and Evening ... Scattered intense thunderstorms are expected, some severe. Large hail, high winds and the potential for isolated tornadoes will be the main threats. Locally heavy is rain also possible with these storms.
A Boys and Girls club planned for Bryan County will benefit from a new state law.
The law releases schools from personal injury and property damage liability for after-hour programs hosted by community organizations.
Jason Simeroth, Durant ISD superintendent, said the law will help the new Boys and Girls club better serve the community -- without the risk of frivilous lawsuits.
Durant Intermediate will host the new club.
He said they're still in the planning stages and do not have a start date yet.
The new law goes into effect Nov. 1.
