BRYAN COUNTY, OK -- A Bryan county jailer was fired after authorities say he brought a loaded gun into the facility.
An affidavit states, Joseph James Hamilton escorted prisoners into the courtroom with a loaded pistol in his front pocket.
Hamilton told investigators he had the weapon for protection, because someone had tried to poison him and he had received threats.
Sheriff Bill Sturch recommended that Hamilton be evaluated by mental health services.
Hamilton is free on bond. He could face 1 to 5 years in prison, if convicted.
