DENISON, TX - A candlelight vigil was held tonight in Denison to remember the life of DJ Jones.

Hundreds of friends and family gathered here tonight at Munson stadium to remember the life of DJ Jones.

19 year old Jones was fatally shot in the back early Friday morning.
Many remember Jones the former star running back at Denison High school.
Former team mate Paul McConnell says he always had a smile on his face.

"Friendly everybody was his friend he always had people laughing." said McConnell.

Long time friend and neighbor, Hayden Cottingame says he grew up with Jones and he was always like a brother to him.

"Sorry just there is not a bad bone in his body." said Cottingame.

Taylor Jones says her brother was her best friend and she wants everyone to remember him for the amazing person he was.

"I want them to know Dreshaun Jones not DJ Jones the football star because Dre Shaun was the one that I knew for the best 17 years of my life that I could ask for." said Jones.

Although Jones was known as a star on the field friends and family say he was much more than just a great football player but a friend that you could count on.
