WILSON, OK - Hundreds of crosses stand in front of Zaneis Baptist Church honoring National Sanctity of Human Life Sunday.

The church's pastor Spence McConnell said the 600 crosses represent the average number of children who are aborted in Oklahoma each month. A recent survey ranks Oklahoma 28th in the nation for the number of abortions performed annually.

The first National Sanctity of Human Life Sunday was recognized by President Ronald Reagan in 1984. The date was chosen to coincide with the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court case.

McConnell said he hopes to make the anti-abortion display an annual tradition.
