DELTA COUNTY, TX -- Last week a Delta County resident fell victim to another Russian credit card scam that has been sweeping the nation.
Homeland Security assisted in the investigation and said the Delta County resident's credit cards were used to buy electronics online and then shipped to Russia to be resold.
The Sheriff says residents out of Honey Grove were recruited through a Sherman newspaper advertisement as package forwarding agents, to what they believed was a legitimate company called "DTI Inc."
The two Honey Grove residents received $20 per package shipped and it is estimated that they have shipped over 100-packages since their employment began in May. Authorities estimate that over $16,000 of stolen merchandise was shipped during that period.
The Honey Grove residents are not facing charges.
