DENISON, TX -- The vice president of the Denison Development Alliance is leaving for a job in a new city at the end of the month.

Scott Smathers says he's accepted an economic development position in Topeka, Kansas.

He says it was a hard decision, but the opportunity was too good to pass up.

Smathers has been with DDA since 2003.

He will officially offer his resignation to the board on Thursday.
