DENISON, TX -- It was a who's who of city leaders, business leaders and movers and shakers Friday, as the city held its 2014 Economic Development Summit.
Mayor Jared Johnson started the event off with his talk on energizing Denison.
"And we've heard that today, there's a vibe in Dension. It's the word on the street," Johnson said.
And it's an energy felt by those in attendance.
"We're really excited about what's going on in Denison," said Teresa Adams, who has attended the event for the past three years.
Denison Development Alliance President Tony Kaai said that's one of the purposes of Friday's summit...to inspire the city.
"So it's good for everyone to get together, and compare notes, and talk about what we're gonna do next," he said.
In 2013 Denison saw the groundbreaking of a new hotel and convention center, a finalization of the plans for the Preston Harbour development, a new distillery, new industries and expansion of existing businesses.
"We've had so many phenomenal things happen in the past year in Denison. So it's extremely exciting. And it's exciting to have a couple hundred people from the community spend a day getting up to date on what's going on in their city," Kaai said.
Johnson said he doesn't want to see that momentum die.
"We have what I saw team Denison here in Denison, everybody working together for the common goal to make this place a better place to live both now and in the future," he said.
