Denison Police offer citizen's academy

DENISON, TX-- If you've ever been interested in learning how a police department runs, here is your chance.

The Denison Police Department is offering a "Citizens Academy," which is an overview on how the city government works along with the police department.

If you sign up for the 12-week class, you will learn how the city is structured, the different job duties of police officers and protocol of those officers.

The class takes place once a week. You must live in the city or work in Denison.

"It let's people see a lot of the stuff that they normally wouldn't have access to. They will see why we have to do stuff certain ways, because a lot of times from watching TV shows, people think that things are done a certain way, but there's certain things we can and cannot do," Lt. Mike Eppler, Denison Police Department, explained.

This is the eleventh class that's been offered and the classes grow in size each time.
