DENISON, TX - Denison superintendent Dr. Henry Scott has received an extension on his contract and a vote of confidence from his peers.

On Tuesday the Denison school board voted to extend Dr. Scott's contract for one year. This is Dr. Scott's 20th year as Denison superintendent. Dr. Scott was integral in getting an 80 million dollar school bond passed last year that will be used to build a new high school and renovate many of the existing schools. Dr. Scott says the extension is pretty routine, but the support that his board and the community show him is very humbling.

"I'm working with a very good school board," Dr. Scott said. "I'm working in a community that's very very supportive of public education and I think for any school superintendent that's a dream come true."

Dr. Scott says he's taking it year by year, but that he has no immediate plans for retirement.
