MARSHALL COUNTY, OKLAHOMA -- Around 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning, search and rescue teams recovered the body of 62-year-old Forrest Ray Wright from Durant.

OHP says, according to a witness, Wright had jumped out of a boat to go swimming, but never re-surfaced.

They also say that he was not wearing a life jacket.

"South of the Roosevelt Bridge right back behind us is where we recovered him," Marshall County Search and Rescue Commander Terry Moore said.

On Thursday night, Marshall County Search and Rescuers say they got a call about a possible drowning just south of the Roosevelt Bridge on Lake Texoma.

"We've been out here since Thursday evening. We've had a crew here every day from daylight to dark," Marshall County Search and Rescue Manager John Garrison said.

From Thursday until Sunday morning, crews worked from sunrise to sunset to find the man's body.

"We had an approximate location, but not an accurate one that we could go off of for sure. That's one of the reasons it took us so long to find him," Moore said.

Moore says he talked to one of Wright's loved ones who says Wright spent a lot of time on this part of the lake.

"This is his favorite swimming and fishing spot, they say," Moore said.

Moore says that Cartwright responders, Park Rangers, OHP troopers and Bryan County deputies worked together to recover the body.

"It was a pretty good all-agency operation," Moore said.

Both Moore and Garrison say they are glad they recovered Wright's body, so that his loved ones can begin to cope.

"Not a good feeling, but we have closure for the family and that's what we're looking for is closure for the family," Garrison said.

Marshall County Search and Rescue workers are volunteers. If you would like to support them, they say they are always in need of donations, food and water. They say to contact the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, who could then connect you to the search and rescue department.
