ADA,OK-- East Central University's long time basketball coach Kent Franz won't be back next season because his contract has not been renewed.

This news comes nine months after authorities say he hit a woman with his car and fled the scene back in September. Franz turned himself in to police the next day.

He entered a blind plea to the charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving injury in court wednesday. According to his attorney, Larry Balcerak, Franz made a statement in court about how he was sorry for his actions but did not believe he did anything wrong.

A judge sentenced the former basketball coach to a two year deferred sentence, $1,000 in court fines, and he must pay prosecution fees for the next two years. His attorney said this was because of his clean background.

Franz was suspended from his coaching duties following the original charges in September. Matt Cole has since been named the new head coach.
