SHERMAN, TX-- 9,600 bottles of Gatorade and water were collected, Monday, at the first ever, Firestorm Relief Drive in Sherman.
NextMedia radio stations sponsored and promoted the event, held at Texoma Harley Davidson to gather donations of cash and beverages for the Salvation Army to supply to area fire departments.
Major Don Wildish with the Salvation Army said he hoped to collect around $500 and 2 pallets of water and Gatorade.
However, the end result was more than $2,000 and 8 pallets.
Sunny Delight also donated an additional 2 pallets of lemonade.
Supplies will remain at the Salvation Army pantry until they're called out to the scene of an area fire.
