ARDMORE, OK -- If you feel like getting in a good workout and do not mind getting messy, the "Fitness Freak Adventure Race" might be a great way to start off the day.
It is a 5K mud run where more than 200 participants will be climbing a 12 ft. rope wall, crossing through ponds, and sliding down dirt mounds. The Fitness Professionals and Miller Harris Outdoors is hosting the event. Dr. Daniel Harris says staying fit is an important part of life, and says that is what inspired him and partner Jeff Miller to put on this physical challenge.
"We sit around these days at desk jobs, and we don't get out and work the land and do things, and a lot of people they don't really like to work out because it's just so routine. It doesn't change up, but this kind of shows you you can have fun and be fit at the same time," Dr. Harris said.
The event will begin at 9 a.m, and it is not too late to sign up. Tickets will be sold at the gate $60 dollars for adults, $40 dollars for military, and $20 dollars for children. Gates will open at 8 a.m. at Criner Hills 1725 Gateway Rd. Ardmore, Ok 73401. For more information visit their website at www.gettfpfit.com/events/fitness_freak.
