Flames destroy Van Alstyne home

VAN ALSTYNE, TX-Fire officials try to find out what started a fire that caused heavy damage to a Van Alstyne home Monday.

It broke out around 6 p.m. on the 2200 block of Hodgins Road. Fire Chief Landon Smith said the house was fully engulfed by the time they arrived and they had to call for mutual aid. He said the home is believed to be unoccupied and there were no injuries. Firefighters were able to put out the flames in under an hour.

Van Alstyne Fire and the Grayson County Fire Marshal are investigating the cause.
