ARDMORE, OK--The Ardmore Beautification Council and the Ardmore Tree Board gave away 500 free trees to dozens of southern Oklahoma residents.

Bald Cyprus, red bud, oak, maple and elm trees were handed out at 5 p.m. this afternoon at the Ardmore Regional Park, and were given on a first come first serve basis.

Every vehicle was allowed to take up to five trees to replace those that were lost during the summer drought. It is all in an effort to help make southern Oklahoma a more beautiful place.
