Girl Scout troop collects donations for tornado victims

PARIS, TEXAS--One Texoma Girl Scout group lent a helping hand Thursday afternoon, collecting donations for the tornado victims in Moore, Oklahoma.

Troop 1780 was outside Brookshire's in Paris collecting money, toys, clothes and non-perishable items, that will be delivered to Moore this Saturday.

Troop leader Jaclyn West says her daughter came up with the idea and decided it would be a good lesson for the troop.

"That's what a girl scout is about, you know, to do things for the community, clean up the community, help make it a better community, and I think this is really showing them," said Jaclyn West.

Paris area residents can continue to donate by dropping items off at Watkins Family Martial Arts Academy.

Watkins and other volunteers will making the trip to Moore to drop off the items.
