Grayson Co. Sheriff runoff debate in Denison

DENISON, TX -- Grayson College and the Herald Democrat will host the Grayson County Sheriff runoff debate tonight. Voters can watch the runoff candidates go head-to-head before the July 31st runoff election.

Grayson County Sheriff Keith Gary and runoff challenger Johnny Waldrip will begin debating at 7 pm tonight. Questions from voters attending the debate will be collected beforehand so both candidates can address issues that directly affect the community.

The event is an opportunity for both Keith Gary and Johnny Waldrip to share their plans for the county.

"I think we need to state our message," said Johnny Waldrip in a May interview with KXII. "We need to explain to people what we want to do and the changes we want to make."

Sheriff Keith Gary said, "My task now is to get out and continue to mix with the public, try to make my points and try to recruit a few more people."

Tonight's 7pm debate will be held the Cruce Stark Theater at Grayson College in Denison. Immediately following will be the debate between Grayson County Precinct 3 Commissioner Jackie Crisp and his challenger, Phyllis James.
