Hugo Police investigate liquor store burglary

HUGO, OK -- Hugo Police are investigating a liquor store burglary last night.

Authorities arrived at the West Main Liquor store in the 400-block of West Main Street around nine this morning. Investigators found that the suspects used a shotgun in an attempt to break the pad lock on the front door. They were able to enter through a side door, stealing several bottles of liquor, money from a safe and cigarettes.

"Upon entry it seems they took an estimated amount of about $8,000," said Hugo Police Officer Billy Jenkins.

Police did find a backpack with a liquor bottle in a small wooded area just south of the building.

Property from the safe has been recovered East of Hugo. Police say they do not have any suspects at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
