Hundreds of homes lose power in Tishomingo Monday night

TISHOMINGO, OK -- More than one thousand homes in Tishomingo were left without power Monday night up until Tuesday morning.

City Manager, Jack, Yates, said 17 power poles were knocked down after Monday's storms. The poles were located between Mannsville and Russett, near the OG&E substation.

Many businesses lost power and Tishomingo Public Schools Superintendent, Kevin, Duncan, said the outage forced them to cancel classes for the day, but school will resume Wednesday.

"Luckily, we're wrapping up everything, and it's towards the end so it wasn't as devastating as it would have been earlier in the school year," said Duncan.

Emergency Management Director, Betty Roan, said a small tornado may have caused the power outage.
