(BONHAM, TEXAS) -- The students at I.W Evans Intermediate School have welcomed some new interactive friends into their classrooms.

Enriching education is at the top of every educator's list and now at I.W Evans Intermediate School in Bonham, there's an app for that.

Hundreds of apps to be more precise, as the school is now home to 225 new apple iPads.

Principal Faithann Cheek says "we need to make sure that we're keeping our students with the world..to make sure that all of our students are fluent with the different technologies that are available to them."

Superintendent Dr. Marvin Beatty estimates the total cost for all the iPads is about $145,000. He says the school board allocated funds for the iPads for 5th & 6th grade students in September, and when he saw how much the iPads enhanced the curriculum he got approval to use over $30,000 in grant money to buy more iPads for 4th graders.

The educational apps the students use have all been researched and approved by a committee, they range from global studies, to math, to reading. Educators agree the new technology has boosted classroom morale.
Lauren Bethel, " the kids really enjoy it..anytime we go get the iPad cart you can hear a pin drop.. Because they know they have to get through the lesson and listen and be attentive during the lesson before they can do the interactive stuff on the iPads."

They also bought nine Apple T.V devices that turn the iPads into an interactive learning station.
