GRAYSON COUNTY, TX - Commissioner Johnny Waldrip formally announced his plan to run for Grayson County Sheriff Friday morning.

He made the announcement today at a kick-off rally held at the court house. Waldrip, a republican, has served as Grayson County precinct one Commissioner for the last ten years. Prior to being elected commissioner he served as Chief Deputy of the Grayson County Sheriff's Department and has over thirty years of law enforcement experience, thirteen of which were spent as a Texas Ranger. Waldrip says his experience would help solve some of the problems currently facing the Sheriff's office.

"If you've noticed, every time there's a problem in the Sheriff's Office they bring in a Texas Ranger to fix it." said Waldrip. "Well, why don't we just put a Texas Ranger in there to start with."

Waldrip will face incumbent Sheriff Keith Gary in next March's primary election.
