DENISON, TX -- By this time of year many kids are out of school supplies and several area families cannot afford to buy more. That is why each year the Denison chamber hosts a school supply drive.
"Kits for Kids" collects the essentials, then DISD principals and teachers pick them up and distribute them to their students.
Chamber President "Anna McKinney" says this year they raised about $7,000 dollars which enabled them to buy more than 5,000 items.
"This is a way we can help our students and educators with the needs of these children," McKinney said.
This is the 5th annual "Kits for Kids" drive.
