GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- Everyone's gearing up for Labor Day weekend, but before you hit the road, authorities remind you, they'll be watching for dangerous drivers.

With Labor Day weekend being the unofficial end to summer, Texas DPS and Oklahoma Highway patrol want you to stay safe on the road this holiday weekend.

Billy Coffee's from Chicago.

He got a head start on his travel, which has taken him through both Texas and Oklahoma.

He hasn't seen any traffic yet, but he knows its coming.

"Hey! Not much traffic out at all. So get out there and do your thing folks," said Coffee.

But Troopers from both Oklahoma and Texas are hoping that includes staying safe on the road.

"What we're wanting drivers to do is slow down. Remember that there are other people out on the road. Try to be as safe as possible, remember to always wear your seat belt. Don't drink and drive and try to stay off that phone as much as possible," said Trooper Mark Tackett with Texas DPS.

Some travelers, like Ron Wood and his wife, may be on the road today, but they're heading home. Where they'll stay.

"Just relax and be happy to be home. We're just going to be happy to be home. And stay safe," said Wood.

If you take to the highways this weekend, remember to be extra cautious, pay attention to the roads, and all the extra drivers on them.

Texas DPS and Oklahoma Highway Patrol are urging travelers to stay sober or get pulled over this holiday weekend.

If you've been drinking and find yourself in need of a ride, AAA will be offering their Tipsy Tow service in Ardmore from Friday through 2 am Tuesday. Just call 1(800) AAA-HELP, and say you need a tow.

In Grayson County, Adam's Automotive will also give you a tow as part of their Holiday Haul program, Saturday morning through Monday.
